Named for benefactor Ben Sharpsteen, animator, producer and director for Walt Disney Studios, the Sharpsteen Museum presents the history of the upper Napa Valley from its pre-history to post World War I with an emphasis on people and changes brought by the period of U.S. emigration and development. In addition to its many historical exhibits, the Museum uses unique and extraordinarily extensive dioramas that depict Calistoga during its period as an elegant Hot Springs resort in the 1860s developed by pioneer, promoter, publisher, entrepreneur, and California's first millionaire, Sam Brannan. The Brannan Cottage, built in 1860, moved to this site in 1977 and is decorated with period furnishings. Open daily.
