Annadel 1880 Winery & Gardens

Annadel 1880 Winery & Gardens is located in the heart of the Valley of the Moon in Sonoma County. Originally built in 1880 by Henry Bolle, a German immigrant whose dream helped begin the wine industry of Sonoma Valley, Annadel occupies 40 acres of vineyards, heirloom rose fields and woodlands. Bolle built his winery in a grove of oak trees near a creek named Anna’s Dell, after his wife. Unfortunately a few years later a fire destroyed his dream, leaving only the hand-laid stone walls and a charming yellow clapboard farm house. It lay untouched for nearly one hundred years and now provides a lovely country setting for weddings and special events.

The highlight of Annadel is the courtyard surrounded by rough stone walls several feet thick and over twelve feet high. Roses, grapevines and other flowers cover the walls, making a lush and romantic setting for a wedding ceremony or the perfect place to dance the night away. A huge live oak tree provides shade for guests as they enjoy cocktails. Beautifully manicured lawns stretch to the edge of acres of garden roses that scent the al fresco dining area. A preserved barn snuggled behind the courtyard can provide warmth and intimacy for dinner at one long table or country dancing during your reception.

Dramatic lighting may illuminate and outline the courtyard walls and surrounding trees. Floral designers use the heirloom roses for bouquets and centerpieces and your dinner might draw on the wines and foods from neighboring farms and vineyards.
