| Q: How long will my tent be standing? A: We have found that customers prefer to have the tent up for longer than the absolute minimum time span of their event, so our standard rental period is up to three days. |
| Q: What if it rains? Will my guests be protected? What are my options? A: Raj Tents are made with an exterior canopy that is water repellant plus a separate decorative interior canopy. This two-ply construction prevents rain in most instances. If your wedding is held during the rainy season where rain and cool temperatures are likely, we recommend using a vinyl tent as a weatherproof shell and then adding a beautiful interior lining to enchant guests. |
| Q: My wedding location is on a gently sloping hillside. Can I have a tent? A: Yes, in fact it looks stunning to have a level tent on a slope. The company's traditional bamboo framed tents can follow the contours of the slope and the team can use different length perimeter poles to keep the tent square. Alternatively, you can have a wooden floor installed if a really level surface is desired under the tent. |
| Q: What do you recommend for flooring? A: Raj offers golden wheat Dhurrie (rug) flooring that is ideal for outdoor installations. Colorful Dhurrie rugs come in various designs that make great accents. The best flooring solution depends on the surface – whether a paved area or grassy area. Often tents are installed on a sub-floor that is 6” high and gives a solid and uniform surface. This surface is of course great for dancing. |
Raj Tents offers several tents in a grand range of colors, patterns, sizes and shapes. Pergola
The Pergola is Raj Tent's smallest covered space at 10' x 10'. Walls are 7' 6" high with the apex at 10' 4". This tent features white voile drapes and matching pole covers. It is supported by a metal frame and is available in a variety of colors and prints.
Pavilion
The Pavilion is an octagonal shaped tent with diameter of 13'. Walls are 7' 6" high with the apex at 10' 4". The Pavilion comes with white voile drapes and matching pole covers. This tent is supported by a metal frame or bamboo poles and is offered in a variety of stunning colors and prints.
Ottoman
The Ottoman is an octagonal shape tent. The diameter is 13' and walls are 7' 6" high with the apex at 10' 4". This tent comes with accessories including arched walls, cream voile drapes with ties and matching pole covers. It is supported by a metal frame or bamboo poles. The Ottoman comes in red with a gold star pattern and golden finials atop each pole. This tent can be configured with a combination of open archways or closed walls adorned with stunning appliqué and brightly banded borders and complimentary pole covers.
Raj
The Raj tent is 14' x 21' and has a 7' 6” leg height and 13' apex. This tent comes with voile drapes, matching pole covers and ties or tassels. The Raj features a bamboo frame and comes in a variety of colors and prints.
Quadruple Pergola
The Quadruple Pergola is four Pergolas with connecting canopies that create an open area in the middle. The total size is 25' square. Pergolas can be arranged together to create a variety of spaces and are available in a myriad of colors.
Maharaja
The Maharaja measures 34' x 20' and 13' at its tallest point. This tent can be fitted with the same accessories as the Raj. The Maharaja features a bamboo frame. Maharaja tents can be installed next to one another giving the possibility to accommodate more guests under an uninterrupted space. A Double Maharaja measures 34' x 40.' A Quadruple Maharaja measures 20' x 140'.
Grand Maharaja
The Grand Maharaja is the largest of Raj Tents traditional bamboo framed tents and covers a space of 27' x 44'.
Interior Linings
In some instances, a vinyl tent may be needed (to protect against the environment) as a shell. Step inside and allow Raj Tents to turn dull into amazing through the use of their interior tent linings that come in the same array of colors, prints and detailing as their regular tents. The ceiling linings are available in sizes up to 40' x 140' with matching doorways, walls and scalloped trim. Raj can provide wall and fabric treatment for larger tents and can also custom design and produce a lining or any piece to the bride's specification.
Don't stop overhead – bring the mood tip to toe by incorporating theme pieces throughout. To compliment, Raj Tents also offers for rent a selection of low furniture, including chairs, divans and lounge pieces. Available also are exotic carved wooden chairs with cushions and bolsters, square tables, Dhurrie and wool carpets. Many pieces feature brightly colored fabrics that match or add dash. And don't forget complimentary lighting from overhead – crystal chandeliers in different sizes and styles. Consider a three-tiered 4'x 4' chandelier on up to a 37-bulb giant swathed in clear or peach-colored glass crystals. Complete your theme with traditional Moroccan lanterns, glass orbs, mystical candle holders in pierced metals, or ornately-jeweled lamps that scatter a colored glow throughout. Raj can provide lighting or will work in tandem with a complementary lighting team to bring further dazzle.

The majority of Raj's client events are held in or around San Francisco , Wine Country and the greater Los Angeles areas, but the company will travel to other regions. About
Raj Tents was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 by friends and business partners Dominic Mitchell and Maurice Walsh. Mitchell, of British extraction, had worked with Indian tents in London for a number of years and has had a longstanding admiration and interest in India since the time he lived there as a youth. Walsh hails from Ireland , but has lived in California for the past 20 years. The two partners combined forces to create a most unique company. Walsh handles operations, looking after the day to day running of the Los Angeles warehouse and offices, plus managing event planning, installations and marketing. Mitchell works with custom projects, design and production.
